In October of 2012, the Town of Carrboro Planning Board began holding a series of three forums in observance of National Community Planning Month. The first year focused on issues associated with affordable housing and the second on gaining a better understanding of zoning. For 2014, the Planning Board focused on the theme of community scale climate action and energy planning. The forums were held at the Carrboro Arts Center, with the agendas for the 3 meetings focusing on: 1) environmental; 2) transportation; and 3) energy use for buildings in which we live and work, as well as biofuels. Each forum included presentations from local community members and local staff, as well as time dedicated to discussion and interaction. The reports and presentations from the forum (available in the right hand boxes on this page) were reviewed by the Energy and Climate Task Force as part of their work to support a Community Climate Action Plan.
