The Carrboro Police Department's Patrol Division responds to calls for service, conducts preventative patrol, and ensures the safety and security of the citizens of the Town of Carrboro. Officers respond to a wide range of calls for service including non-criminal incidents, traffic crashes, property crimes, juvenile incidents and violent crimes.
The Administrative Division runs the Police Department "behind the scenes." Members of this division set department policies and goals, manage other divisions, attend important community functions, and provide vital assistance to the rest of the department. Administrators are available during normal business hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for continued investigations of crimes that occur in the Town of Carrboro. After a citizen reports a crime to an officer, a report is written, and this report - based upon the nature of the crime - may be turned over to an investigator for further investigation.
The Community Services Division is responsible for organizing community events, speaking at both neighborhood meetings and special events, conducting Pedestrian Safety Operations, and other necessary police functions. Community Services officers may also assist patrol officers responding to calls for service and assist with narcotics investigations.
