July 4th Celebration

Although our traditional event was canceled, we have planned some virtual/socially-distant opportunities for our community this year.

Beginning at 10:00am, Town vehicles from Police, Fire, Public Works, Planning, & Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources will hold a parade of Town vehicles on a 26-mile route around Town.

At 12:00pm, Mayor Lydia Lavelle will host a virtual gathering of community members for the 7th annual Community Reading of Frederick Douglass' essay, "The Meaning of the Fourth of July for the Negro."

The community reading will available on our YouTube Channel beginning at 12:00pm on July 4th. Click HERE for a direct link to the video once the video goes live.

At 2:00pm, join us on our Facebook page for a live musical performance from local favorites Nantahala.
