
Janis Harrington’s latest poetry collection, How to Cut a Woman in Half (2022), was a finalist for the Able Muse Book Award. Her first collection, Waiting for the Hurricane, won the 2017 Lena Shull Book Award, given by the North Carolina Poetry Society. She is the winner of the 2023 James Applewhite Poetry Contest sponsored by the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association. Janis co-hosts the Second Sunday Reading Series for Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill. Her work has appeared in Tar River Poetry, the Journal of the American Medical Association, North Carolina Literary Review, San Pedro River Review and other journals and anthologies.
